Tigers executives receive management training

Staff Reporter

The recently-elected executive committee members of Tigers Sports Club were last Saturday taken through an extensive Executive Club Management Induction training by renowned local sports consultant Mathew Haikali in Windhoek.

Speaking at the start of the training, Tigers chairperson Nelson Akwenye said that as passionate former players and now administrators, it was important that they give back to the club and contribute to the new direction the game of football needs to take.

“As former players, we understand what the game needs to move to the next level of professionalism. We are very grateful to the previous management committee under the leadership of Turky Ndashiiva for leading the club to where it is now. The onus is now on us to build and deliver Tigers Sports Club as a legendary club, as we head to the centennial celebrations in the next five years,” said Akwenye.

“The current crop of executive committee members brings a diversity of skills from various sectors such as legal, financial, investment, business, entrepreneurship and sports, which provides a cocktail and melting pot of both diversity and ideas,” he added.

The two-day induction workshop is part of the club’s strategic plan to ensure that all members are aware of their roles and fiduciary responsibilities.

The facilitator commended Tigers chairperson and his team for taking this important step, which is in line with the club’s current slogan ‘Tigers on the move’, which also makes it the first premier league club to initiate an induction for its elected executive.

The induction training was geared towards taking the executive committee through the following topics: planning, the Fifa statutes, NFA statutes, introduction to club licensing requirements, marketing and opportunities available.

The executive members present at the workshop were: Edward Kafita (Chief Operations Officer), Paulus Emmanuel (Chief Marketing and Communication Officer), Brown Amuenje (Club Secretary), Werner Shilunga (Chief Legal Officer), Shatiwele Uutoni (Team Manager), Mekondjo Naholo (Head Coach) and the Chairperson, Nelson Akwenye.

Members not present, who will attend a similar course early next year are, Aron Haludilu (Chief Financial Officer), Sonia Shifotoka (Administrator) and Tuhafeni Haushona (Supporters Club Chairperson).
