Title race intensifies in national bowls league
Walvis-Bay Rossmund continued their winning streak in the National Bowls League, dispatching coastal rivals Namib Park in Walvis Bay 13-12and Swakopmund 22-14 respectively, last weekend. Title contenders Transnamib, kept their hopes alive with a narrow win over Eros13-12, but suffered defeat to minnows Windhoek Bowling Club 8-20. The title race in the men’s division is heating up with the trio of Rossmund, Tsumeb and Transnamib all on level points with four matches left to play. In the men’s division, Rossmund 13-12 Namib Park, Transnamib 13-12 Eros, Windhoek Bowling Club 18-17 Windhoek Country Club, Rossmund 22-14 Namib Park, Windhoek Country Club 20-13 Eros, Windhoek Bowling Club 20-8 Transnamib. In other action, the ladies from Eros stood their grounds jealously defending their lead on the log standings. On Saturday, Eros defeated Transnamib 27-16 and claimed another victory against the Windhoek Country Club 17-15. Rossmund ladies had an unforgettable weekend on the greens, starting the weekend with an away game to Namib Park where they were downed 29-12, while also failing to fashion any success in their home tie, losing again on Sunday 24-6. Rossmund remains 2nd on the log table with Windhoek Country Club adrift in 3rd.The full results in the ladies division read as follows: Namib Park 29-12 Rossmund, Eros 27-16 TransNamib, Windhoek Country Club 27-15 Windhoek Bowling Club, Rossmund 6-24 Namib Park, Eros 17-15 Windhoek Country Club, Windhoek Bowling Club 23-14 Transnamib. In the mixed division, Windhoek Country Club toppled Transnamib from the summit following wins over Windhoek Bowling Club 13-12 and Eros 28-9. Transnamib and Rossmund are tied on points in 2nd and 3rd positions after round 10. Transnamib lost their first game against Eros on Saturday 13-19 but won against Windhoek Bowling Club on Sunday 28-5. Rossmund enjoyed a more convincing outing, recording wins in both their home and away matches against Namib Park (20-9) and (19-18). Mixed Division Results: Windhoek Country Club 13-12 Windhoek Bowling Club, Eros 19-13 Transnamib, Rossmund 20-9 Namib Park, Transnamib 28-5 Windhoek Bowling Club, Windhoek Country Club 28-9 Eros, Rossmund 19-18 Namib Park.
