Two die after bakkie plunges into shack

The police in the Khomas region are looking for a suspect who drove into a shack and killed two people instantly after the vehicle drove over them while they were sleeping.

The incident occurred at around 03h38 on Saturday at erf 7098 in Bishop AC Kamburona Street.

Warrant officer Silas Shipandeni said the vehicle with registration N186-198W, a grey Toyota double cab bakkie, drove into a corrugated iron shack where a man and woman were sleeping. They were declared dead on the scene by paramedics.

He said the driver, who is now a wanted suspect, fled the scene in another white bakkie. The deceased have been identified as 49-year-old Jimmy Hamaseb and 40-year-old Wilfred Guriras.

Shipandeni said the next of kin of both victims were informed.

Meanwhile, the ownership details of the vehicle which drove into the corrugated iron shack were circulated, and it revealed that it belongs to Tjinotjua Katjatenja, who resides in Dokin Street at Goreangab.

The police officer thus urged the vehicle owner to report himself to the nearest police station in connection with a culpable homicide case.
