Violent weekend claims many lives
Windhoek - Police in Rehoboth reported that the lifeless body of 17-year-old Camila Gabriela Stiyn was found in a half-built building in Rehoboth yesterday after 01h00. The deceased was found with scratch marks on her face and neck and it is suspected she was strangled to death. The next of kin were informed and police investigations are in full swing. It was also announced at the crime briefing that a 37-year-old man was hacked with a panga allegedly by his 44-year-old girlfriend at Ehangano informal settlement in the Etoshapoort area of Outjo on Saturday, at about 16h00. According to Inspector Slogan Matheus from the Namibian Police Public Relations Division the victim was asleep and the suspect just entered his room and started hacking him with a panga on the head. The victim was briefly treated at the local hospital and transferred to Katutura hospital in Windhoek in a serious condition. The suspect was arrested and is due to appear in the Outjo Magistrate’s Court today. An Otjiwarongo resident was arrested for allegedly stabbing his younger brother to death and seriously injuring his elder sister after an argument during a drinking spree. According to the crime report, the suspect and his victims were at their residence yesterday morning at about 02h30 drinking alcohol when an argument erupted between them resulting in the suspect stabbing both victims with a knife. Both victims were rushed to Otjiwarongo hospital where the brother identified as Jesaya Namaseb, 31, succumbed to his injuries and the sister, 47, was admitted in a serious, but stable condition. The suspect was arrested and will appear in the Otjiwarongo Magistrate’s Court today on charges of murder and attempted murder. A case of murder was opened at the Omuthiya Police Station after a 68-year-old man was killed by unknown assailants with unknown objects. It is alleged that the man, identified as Johannes Iita, who lived with his domestic worker at his homestead, was alone after the domestic took their animals to the water point. Police investigations continue. Police in Epukiro opened a case of murder after a 60-year-old man died after he was stabbed in the throat by an unknown male suspect. It is alleged that the deceased, Thosi John, was on his way home from a drinking place when he met a male person who asked for matches. While taking out the matches the suspect allegedly stabbed him. He was rushed to the Epukiro clinic where he later died. Police investigations continue.
