Staff Reporter

The management committee of Lüderitz Crayfish Festival has confirmed the cancelation of this year’s Crayfish festival, which was scheduled to take place from 30 April until 4 May 2020.
“As organisers of this popular annual event attended by huge crowds, we have to play our part in the fight against Covid-19 devastating pandemic, and it is for this compelling reason that it was decided to call off this year’s Annual Lüderitz Crayfish Festival 2020. The decision to cancel the 202 Lüderitz Crayfish is in full compliance with the regulations introduced by the government in light of the state of emergency declared by His Excellency, the President of the Republic of Namibia,” read a statement from Brigitte Fredericks, mayor of Lüderitz and chairperson of the Lüderitz Crayfish Festival.
“The Lüderitz Crayfish Festival board of trustees and its management committee sincerely thank all our sponsors for continued support and loyalty. As we look forward to the coming year 2021, we would like to assure all our sponsors and stakeholders that the Lüderitz Crayfish Festival 2021 shall be bigger and better,” said Fredericks.
