Windhoek - Namibia's senior football team, the Brave Warriors, suffered a morale-denting psychological blow ahead of their crucial doubleheaders against Mozambique in a fortnight.
The under-strength Warriors went down by a solitary goal (0-1) against hosts Botswana Zebras in an international friendly at the National Stadium in Gaborone, yesterday. The match marked that country's independence anniversary.
The Warriors are seating on one point from a possible six and are still looking for their first win in Group K comprising Southern African neighbours Zambia and Mozambique as well as Guinea Bissau with two home matches against Guinea Bissau and Mozambique.
This will be followed by two crucial matches away to Zambia and Mozambique and with 12 points up for grabs victories at home will put them back in contention for a place in the finals in Cameroon.
Namibia travel to Maputo to confront Mozambique on 13 October welcoming the same opponents at home - three days later.
