We Can Cope with High Demand - Mossi-Nets
"By Petronella Sibeene WINDHOEK Namibia's mosquito net manufacturer, Mossi-Nets says there is no need for the Government to procure mosquito nets from outside the country because it has the capacity to produce high quality nets. The Ministry of Health and Social Services has mainly imported mosquito nets from as far as Vietnam. In an interview with New Era, Mossi-Nets Administrative Officer, Maria Gau-goas, said the Government should promote such small entrepreneurial efforts as they have potential to alleviate unemployment. ""Through this project, I have been able to send my children to school. The only problem is that when we do not have a lot of orders, we sometimes have to stay home,"" remarked Helger Newman, one of the 10 women working there. The administrative officer added that support would also demonstrate the black economic empowerment campaign aimed at arming previously disadvantaged Namibians with survival means. Mossi-Nets is situated in Otavi, where the unemployment rate is estimated at 70 percent. Gau-goas says should the project receive many tenders, it would consider taking in more people to work. ""Consider Mossi-Nets when it comes to tenders and not to go as far as Vietnam as has been the case all these years,"" she appealed to the Government. Mossi-Nets manufactures a wide range of mosquito nets, mainly treated, but that would also depend on what the customer prefers. During January, the project had to work on 8??????'??"
