Where flowers bloom so does hope

Maria Haipinge

Windhoek-born Telefina Sion Haindongo is a young dexterous individual when it comes to designing and arranging faux and paper flowers.

She started her venture as a florist in June 2021, with a desire to assist people in realising their aspirations through weddings, graduations and home decorations with pretty everyday bouquets and funerals.

Thriving headstrong in the flower industry, the 27-year-old lives by the motto, ‘where flowers bloom so does hope’. She says being a florist allows her to employ her creativity and express her love for flowers.

Haindongo works alone and funds her business herself. She underwent a one-day training course from Lahja Hangula in Eenhana, which allowed her to grow her skills.

She shared that she was “super excited” when she received her training, which, through a step-by-step process, allowed her to create and form a flower. These processes include drawing, cutting, arrangements, designs, and more.

For her, learning and creating new flower designs every day as well as gaining customer service skills is what she has achieved thus far.

“The highlights of my career are to come up with new ideas that improve things, to be complimented by my clients and identifying a problem and solving it,” she listed.

Going forward, Haindongo plans on putting more effort into the business to move forward, such as using “strong communication skills and time management”; additionally, focusing on delivering excellent services to her clients.

She is based in Ongwediva and can be reached on 081 581 2106
