Namibia’s biggest and most popular fashion platform is calling for designers to apply to showcase their latest collections.
Making its seventh return, the MTC Windhoek Fashion Week will take place from 1-5 November 2022.
Over the years, the platform has given a chance to both emerging, start-up and well-established designers to flaunt their talents on its prominent runway. Local and international designers continue to use the opportunity to advance and promote their brands, and expose themselves to a larger audience.
The event has seen tremendous growth over the years. In addition to making a fashion statement in the industry, it has branched out to be a platform that uplifts ‘fashionpreneurs’ through its Fashion Pitch Night, in collaboration with Launch Namibia.
This year’s theme is ‘Sustainably Namibian’. “When we talk about sustainably Namibian, we are talking about sustainability in the fashion industry,” Lafika Joyce tells VIBEZ!
“So, when designers apply to take part and participate in this year’s fashion week, we want the following words to resonate with them. We want them to think about reusing, reducing, rethinking, repairing and recycling.”
Windhoek Fashion Week always aims to be bigger and better than the previous year. Last year, they had a different set-up and a show on the last day of the event.
Joyce, who is one of the organisers, a designer and model, said this year they are trying to have more designers with more diverse collections, and more upcoming and beginner designers.
“Once again, looking at collections that have something to do with sustainability.”
Anyone and everyone who is a fashion designer, upcoming, emerging or student designer, is advised to apply and mark their name in the fashion industry, as long as they have designs in mind and/or latest collections they would like to showcase. As always, the call-out is open to all local fashion designers as well as international designers and accessory designers.
