Windhoekers bid farewell to Welwitschias
Windhoek Hundreds of Windhoek residents were yesterday accorded an opportunity to bid farewell to the Namibian senior rugby team, the Welwitschias, who jetted off to South Africa en route to England to participate in this year’s World Cup. Scores of Windhoek inhabitants came out to witness first-hand as the Namibian rugby World cup-bound team toured through the capital’s streets interacting with the fans and showing appreciation for the nation’s unwavering support. In an extravagant send-off, the parade started yesterday morning at around 07h30, with the team touring areas of the city until 09h30. As is customary, the players also kicked signed rugby balls into the crowds that awaited the team on the sidewalks of the city’s streets.
