 Another woman brutally murdered
"RUNDU – A Rundu man butchered his wife to death yesterday afternoon, slitting her throat with a kitchen knife and then attempting to take his own life. Horrified neighbours alerted the police, who arrested the man a few hours later. He was in hiding and had also slit his own throat but the cuts were not fatal. He was admitted to Rundu State Hospital under police guard. Rundu police released the name of the late victim as 34-year-old Isabela Eixas, and the man arrested as her husband Buta Epampa. Information from the neighbours are that the couple had been having marital problems and the woman had on numerous occasions laid charges of violence only to withdraw the charges a few hours later. At the time of death the couple had separated with the wife staying with their twin boys and a teenage niece who witnessed the senseless killing. “She was in the room feeding the children, then he just came in and started asking her if it is true that she is seeing someone else. She denied it and he started beating her. He took her out of the room and continued beating her in the kitchen,” Eixas’ shocked niece narrated. When New Era arrived at the couple’s common home in Rundu’s Donkerhoek location late yesterday the kitchen floor and kitchen utensils were still covered in the blood of the victim, as though testimony to the gruesome death of the late Exias, who was found bleeding to death in the kitchen. Neighbours told police that the suspect always physically abused his wife. Eixas leaves behind three children, one from a previous relationship and twins from her marriage with the suspect. Neighbours at the scene also told New Era that the suspect had in the past vowed to kill his wife. Yesterday he fulfilled his evil promise. The couple married in 2009. By Mathias Haufiku"
