A 48-year-old man committed suicide on Saturday morning after attempting to murder his wife with an axe in the Ohangwena region. 
The incident occurred at Omahahi in the Epembe constituency. The wife survived the attack and was admitted to a local hospital. According to the police, the couple was out drinking at a cucashop the previous night.

“Then the husband left for home early and his wife remained behind. 
Later on, the wife was heard screaming and the neighbours allegedly came and found the wife outside the bedroom with severe wounds on the head and they further discovered the lifeless body of the husband hanging from the roof inside the bedroom,” the police said in a crime report yesterday. 

“There was a small axe and blood stains on the floor. It is suspected that the husband hacked his wife with the small axe and he committed suicide thereafter.” The deceased was identified as Hesekiel Naftal. 

Meanwhile, a case of attempted murder was registered after a man was stabbed in the abdomen at Onandjaba in Omusati region. According the police, the suspect allegedly found the victim in his room and with his girlfriend, leading to the near fatal incident.

“The suspect allegedly chased the victim and stabbed him with an Okapi knife in the abdomen. The victim was rushed to Oshikuku Catholic Hospital and later transferred to Oshakati Intermediate Hospital in a stable condition. A 43 years old male was arrested. He will appear before the Outapi Magistrate’s Court today.”
