The Mexican painter, Beatriz Padilla, has recently held a 15-day painting workshop (sponsored by Onguma Safari Camps) together with Jonela Uises at the Oshivelo's Uukumwe Junior High School. The outcome is the production of 198 high-quality paintings with a strong emphasis on cultural heritage by 39 teenagers. Hai//om and Oshiwambo elders shared their tradition's stories with the young who recorded them in paintings. Johannes Josef, Josephine Nambala, Robert Joseph, Leena Timotheus, Johannes Endjala, Ausiku Hishikushitya, Natangue Amalgua, Aina Mupupa, Ignatius Jeremia, Fimankea Kalenga are among the gifted teenagers. The project successfully concluded its first stage with an exhibition at Etosha National Park's Namutoni Fort, in September. The works are being exhibited at the FNCC gallery from next Wednesday until October 27.
