Zen-Zo steals the show
Windhoek The Franco-Namibian Cultural Centre (FNCC) was packed last Friday with hoards of fans having come to watch the amazing Zenzeni Mondi Haraseb, known by his stage name, Zen-Zo, who headlined the acoustic night concert. Zen-Zo, a vocalist and instrumentalist who is strongly rooted in Africa musically, presented mainly original compositions, interspersed with songs in tribute to his peers, Lokua Kanza, Richard Bona and Ringo. He was supported by a seven-piece band, featuring Nadja on backing vocals, Mbira on percussion and mouth organ, Tendaji on percussion, Imms on electric guitar, Slickartie on vocals and shakers, Danny on keys, Piu on drums and Wayne on bass guitar. Their astonishing performance had the audience dancing non-stop and begging for more. They performed songs, such as Munga, Nangi Nangi and Tsubu Tsubus, which got the whole audience in a dancing mood. Zen-Zo also for the first time presented his latest release: a single called ‘Sa Khoena Miba’ - which means ‘talk to your people’. He said the song was inspired by his grandmother. “She told me to educate my people, because everything has to go back to its roots,” Zen-Zo said.
