He has a voice that is reminiscent of another great African artist from the Congo DRC - Lokua Kanza. He is inspired by top African musicians like Lokua Kanza, Youssou N’Dour, Richard Bona and Ringo Madlingozi. He sings in Damara and has the potential to become a Namibian star on the World Music stage.

He already performed last night  at the Hilton Kalabar accompanying himself on the acoustic guitar – supported by Danny Azangi on keyboards and electric guitar and Gloria & Patricia on backing vocals.  Next Thursday singer-poet Nunu and guitarist Christian Polloni perform. Nunu Namises, a.k.a Truth made her performance debut on the Spoken Word stage in 2009 and has become a much respected poet since. She has recently moved on to incorporate music in her poetry, fusing the two into a mix of modern and folky poetic songs. Referring to herself as an “artivist”, Truth mesmerises with her quirky poetry and soulful voice. Christian Polloni is a guitarist and music producer, who has worked internationally with Youssou N’Dour, Alpha Blondie and Papa Wemba. He is the producer, inter alia, of Erna Chimu’s latest album and a handful of Namibians compilation. He plays the acoustic and electric guitars and uses a music gadget with a ‘loop’ sequencer – allowing him to create numerous layers of harmonies as he is playing his guitar.

The Jazz Etcetera concert range at the Hilton Kalabar takes place on Thursday evenings 19h-21h30 and is open to the public with no entrance fees charged.

his is Zenso, a young singer, songwriter of 24 years, who was first confronted with music as a member of his Otjiwarongo high school choir. He began taking arts seriously in 2004. Currently, Zenzo is in the third and final year of his studies for an African Performing Arts Diploma at the College of the Arts. En passant, he has acquired numerous instrumental skills – he plays the marimbas, the mbira, piano, guitar and the African djembe. 

Zenzo is further recording his first CD, which he hopes to release towards the end of June.
