RUNDU - A 45-year-old Zimbabwean, Abdul Mutsvare, who was arrested by the Namibian Police on New Year’s eve for allegedly pointing a pistol at a 36-year-old man at Ndama location, was granted bail of N$3000 when he appeared in court on Monday.
He stood before Rundu magistrate Barry Mufana charged with one count of contravening the Arms and Ammunition Act - pointing a firearm.
“Upon bail being paid, the accused person is warned to appear before the Rundu Magistrate’s Court on 31 May at 09h00. In case of a failure to appear at court, a warrant of arrest may be issued against the accused, and bail will be provisionally cancelled and money be forfeited to the state,” explained magistrate Mufana.
Prosecutor Variety Matamata represented the State in the matter. After his rights to legal representation were explained, the accused opted to conduct his own defence at his next court appearance.
His case was then postponed for plea.
