NWR, Napwu boost employee compensation

Namibia Wildlife Resorts (NWR) and the Namibia Public Workers Union (Napwu) agreed to improve the compensation structure and housing allowance of employees in the bargaining unit.

Under this new agreement, effective from 01 November 2023, all employees in job grades A1 through D3 who currently earn less than the minimum compensation scale will be aligned to the new minimum (25th) percentile of the new salary scale.

“This adjustment ensures equitable compensation for employees in the bargaining unit and appreciates their valuable contributions to the business,” NWR managing director, Matthias Ngwangwama said during the signing ceremony in Windhoek on Tuesday.

In addition to pay modifications, a total adjustment of N$5 500 will be made to the housing allowance over a three-year period.

This adjustment will start in the fiscal year 2023 and continue until the fiscal year 2025/26.

Ngwangwama stated that the goal of this tiered strategy is to give employees long-term support, improving their living conditions and general well-being.

He added that NWR and Napwu are committed to fostering a positive and equitable work environment, ensuring that all employees receive fair and competitive compensation.

“This deal represents a significant step towards achieving these goals, and demonstrates the organisation’s dedication to the welfare of their employees. We look forward to successfully implementing these changes and the continued collaboration between NWR and Napwu,” Ngwangwama said. – Nampa
