Libya put Brave Fives to the sword

Namibia’s Brave Fives bowed out of the TotalEnergies Confederation of African Football Futsal African Cup of Nations (Afcon) after their 5-11 loss against Libya Tuesday night.

They exited without registering a win from the three games they played in the competition.

On Tuesday, Libya produced a scintillating performance to beat Namibia 5-11 at the Prince Moulay Abdellah Hall.

The Brave Fives’ debut appearance at the competition saw them finish bottom of Group B with zero points, while Egypt won the group with nine points to book a place in the semi-finals.

The Mediterranean Knights of Libya finished second with six points, three more than Mauritania in third.

Despite not collecting a point in their group fixtures, Namibia managed to score 12 goals and conceded 26 times.

Meanwhile, Group A saw host nation Morocco winning the group without dropping a point.

They are set to face the runners-up of Group B in the semi-finals on Friday, while Angola has a date with the winner of Group B on the same day at the Prince Moulay Abdellah Hall.

The top three teams in this competition will automatically represent Africa at the International Federation of Association Football (Fifa) Futsal World Cup that takes place later this year. - Nampa
