Life Fighters' executives resign

Six out of the eight executive members of Life Fighters last week resigned from the club with immediate effect.

Former commercial director Terry Ujamba confirmed the news on Friday, citing ideological differences.

He emphasised their departure is not related to the club’s relegation from the DebMarine Namibia Premier League. The executives who resigned are Ujamba, Anton Kake (board chairman), Rasta Kaeka (director of finance), Nguei Mbueza (director), Ismael Elishy (director of sport) and Marvellous Ochar (director of operations).

Ujamba explained their resignation boils down to different ideologies, and the modus operandi of the team.

“How we see the club moving forward is not the same as the way the community sees it moving forward.

It’s a community club, so I think there are many young clairvoyant members to take over. It is now also up to the management to call an urgent annual general meeting to appoint new interim members.”

He added there will not be any kind of power tussles, as they have learned from other clubs on how it destroys clubs.

“As the executive team, we have taken the pinch – and at the end of the day, we chose the team above ourselves,” he added.

In a statement released on Friday, the executives stated that every item that belongs to Life Fighters – from the company registration documents to all the club regalia – will be handed to the supporters' club chairman not later than 1 June.

“In the same vein, we take this moment to thank the entire folklore of Life Fighters for granting us the privilege of serving this great product. We wish the new management greater success in their quest to improve where we failed''.

A source close to the club said management does not respect the technical team, and overrules decisions.  “There is just so much happening there. I don’t even know if they will survive first division and return to topflight football,” the source said.

The remaining executive members are Supporters’ Club chairperson Moses Kangumba and his vice chair, Seun Tjizu.

Life Fighters ended at the bottom of the league with 20 points after 30 matches.

They managed to win only four games, drew eight and lost 18.
