Love in the form of food

Renowned chef Coenie Muundjua recently partnered with Top Score to give out Christmas goodies to 95 families.

This is, however, not the first time they have served the community; it is also an initiative that Muundjua plans to develop going forward. On 10 December, they provided 260 people from 95 families with lunch packs, maize meal and instant porridge at the Katutura Youth Hostel.

This programme started in 2020 amid the Covid-19 pandemic when they gave out food in Omaruru and Okakarara.

“We also gave out food in Windhoek at the dumping site twice or three times, and around June in 8ste Laan, where we also catered for about 240 people. Last year, we closed off the year with a Christmas treat at Katutura Old Age Home,” said the chef.

Though Top Score is the main sponsor, with Muundjua as its brand ambassador, during the last two events, they were
joined by Epupa Investments. “I think the biggest accomplishment for me is the
large number of people increasing, as I started alone, then later I was joined by Teckla Kangueehi and now we are about
15, doing this thing for free and not to forget our sponsors too. This to me is our greatest accomplishment,” he explained.

Muundjua said the reason for contributing to society is to improve the living standards of those who are not so fortunate, although the programme’s target is the elderly.

He said the elderly are more vulnerable, hence the partnership with Epupa Investments.

He further said he is willing to assist other members of the community who are experiencing hardships in their lives.

“We hope to get at least three soup kitchens in Windhoek. This is something permanent, and I wish to get more people on board with the same interest at heart. I would like to thank my team; I never knew I would come across like-minded individuals, as everyone else I tried reaching out to wanted money, so I am grateful for those who came through,” he said.
