MICT to construct new office in Zambezi

KATIMA MULILO - The Ministry of Information and Communication Technology (MICT) will commence with the construction of its new regional office in Zambezi after it handed over the site to the constractor yesterday.

The N$22 million building will have six offices, an internet café, a library and a state-of-the-art recording studio which will be utilised by the ministry and locals to record talk shows and music.

Speaking at the handover of the site, MICT’s deputy director of ICT development Ziege Willemse revealed that 28 skilled and unskilled locals will be employed.

He said the building will also have “a big open space office which can accommodate another six persons or so. We are open to Nampa and New Era to assist them with office space if they will ever need it once the building is done.”
Currently staff members of MICT in Zambezi  share offices, and according to its regional head Nicholas Chaka, once completed the office will provide staff members with a spacious and conducive working environment, which is a prerequisite for them to perform their duties effectively.

“I am very excited because we will able to produce as much as the other offices. We will be put in par with the other regions, as right now we do not have a studio and lacking IT equipment, so this new building will come with all the gear we need to produce,” said Chaka.

The 18 months building project which will be constructed by Betonstain Construction is expected to be completed in March 2020.
