The fourth edition of the annual Wodibo Haulofu Sports tournament is set to take place at Okongo in the Ohangwena region from Friday to Sunday.

An amount of over N$45 000 has been set aside for the competition, according to Phillip ‘Wetu’ Lazarus, the tournament organiser.

He indicated that more than 20 schools are expected to attend from the Oshana, Oshikoto, Ohangwena, Omusati, Kavango West and Kavango East regions.

“The importance of this tournament is that it creates a chance for learners to meet other learners from different schools and regions, and learn new things. Learners also show their sports skills in different sports codes, and business community members can sell to participants throughout the weekend,” he said.

Lazarus added that this year, female football was added to empower girls in sports as well.

In terms of prizes, the male football category winner will walk away with N$4 500, a floating trophy and gold medals, while the second-placed team will scoop N$3 200 and silver medals. Third-place winner will get N$2 500 and bronze medals. The fourth-placed team will secure N$1 900.
