WINDHOEK – A 15-year-old boy allegedly raped a 14-month-old infant over the weekend. The infant was seriously injured and has been admitted to the Katutura State Hospital for treatment.

The 15-year-old suspect was arrested and charged and released in the custody of his parents. He is expected to appear in the Katutura Magistrate’s Court today. Police said the incident took place between 21:00 and 22:00 on Friday, in Windhoek’s Otjomuise area.

A 62-year-old man was arrested for allegedly raping a 16-year-old girl at Iihandhi village in Onyaanya constituency. The suspect was arrested and is expected to appear in the Ondangwa Magistrate’s Court today.

Police spokesperson, Inspector Stephen Nuuyi, also reported that a one-year-old baby boy, Reino Kaswas, died after he drank diesel in Outjo on Friday.

On Saturday at 03:00 at Fresh Idea Bar at Onamutayi village, five armed suspects stole N$10 000 from the bar after breaking into the bedrooms of the bar attendants. They allegedly obtained keys to the bar after hitting a male bar attendant with an iron bar in the face, and tied his legs and arms before they went to the bedroom of the female staff member and also tied her up.

On Friday at 24h00 at the junction under the bridge near Nampower station a truck driver failed to yield and crashed into a sedan. A passenger died instantly. The driver escaped unhurt and is expected to appear in the Katutura Magistrate’s Court today.
