The extraordinarily popular Volvo XC40 is now available in T3 configuration which, unlike the rest of the models in the range, is a front-wheel drive vehicle propelled by a smaller 1.5 litre engine which is governed by a manual gearbox. However, according to the local Volvo dealership, the XC40 T3 will only hit Namibian showrooms later this year with a retail price in the half a million Namibia dollar range.

Repo rate remains unchanged at 6.75%
WINDHOEK – The Bank of Namibia’s Monetary Policy Committee (MPC) yesterday confirmed that the repo rate has been left unchanged at 6.75 percent. After a review of global, regional and domestic economic and financial developments, the MPC’s decision was made to continue supporting domestic growth, while maintaining the one-to-one link between the Namibia Dollar and the South African Rand.

Bank Windhoek opens Okahao Branch

Latest Fitch rating a confirmation for continued consolidation – analysts
WINDHOEK - The latest assessment of the Namibian economy by international ratings agency, Fitch Ratings, on Monday affirmed a sub-investment grade rating of BB+ with a stable outlook. Local economists believe that this assessment is a confirmation for continued fiscal consolidation efforts, which have thus far been slow as government struggles to balance consolidation with adequate economic growth, poverty alleviation and a necessary reduction in income inequality.

Oniipa town gets electricity
ONIIPA - Since Oniipa was proclaimed a town in 2015 it has yet to build modern brick houses for its residents though the local authority has made great strides to service some parts of the new town.
One such servicing development was witnessed on Tuesday when the town council serviced an area estimated to have 56 erven at Onethindi Proper that was provided with electricity.
