WINDHOEK - Two judges of the Windhoek High Court reinstituted bail of three suspected stock thieves after a magistrate at the small town of Karibib cancelled it after she recused herself from the case because she received a personal letter from one of the defence lawyers.

Frenzied knife murder trial postponed to April

WINDHOEK - The trial of Rodney Ricardo Rooi accused of murdering his 19-year-old girlfriend and mother of his child, Brigitta Smith, by stabbing her seven times in the chest for refusing to spend the night with him was postponed to April next year by the Windhoek High Court.

WINDHOEK - One week after the state eye clinic at Windhoek Central Hospital closed due to lack of medicine and funds, the Ministry of Health and Social Services yesterday announced its operations would resume at the end of this month.

Star of the Week is Libolly Haufiku

Our Star of the Week is Libolly Haufiku, the owner of Ombaye Fishing, who on Monday, responded to the call of the Minister of Health and Social Services, Dr Bernard Haufiku who appealed to Good Samaritans to save the eye clinic at the Windhoek Central Hospital that had run out of funds and was on the verge of closure. Haufiku donated N$100 000 to save the eye clinic that last week due to the lack of medicine and funds was forced to close temporarily.

Vehicle crashes into elephant in Kavango

KAHENGE – Police in Kavango West have cautioned motorists travelling at night to be careful when driving along the Rundu-Nkurenkuru road where some vehicles have recently crashed into livestock and also elephants as could be attested by an incident on Wednesday night.
