Mining sector recorded highest sectoral growth in 2018

WINDHOEK - The Chamber of Mines in Namibia this week lauded the local mining sector as the best performing economic sector in 2018. This top performance was confirmed by the Preliminary National Accounts as released by the Namibia Statistics Agency, which indicated that the sector recorded a strong growth rate of 22 percent compared to 13.3 percent in 2017, which is more than any other economic sector.

Genocide: Real, robust and honest conversations overdue

On the sidelines of a conference titled Colonial Repercussions: Reflecting on the Genocide of the Ovaherero and Nama Peoples 115 Years Later, held in Windhoek last week at the Goethe Institut Namibia, US- based Jephta Nguherimo, a co-founder of the Institute of the Nama, Ovaherero, Ovambanderu and Nama Genocide (ONGI) in the USA, interestingly observed that these days, if ever, Namibians more often talk about rain than they do about genocide and reparations.

Rundu campus confers first nursing degrees, diplomas

RUNDU - The University of Namibia’s Rundu Campus conferred 16 nursing degrees and nine nursing diplomas a first of its kind. Overall, about 461 young professionals received degrees and diplomas in Education, Entrepreneurship and New Venture Creation, Business Administration, Accounting and Nursing.
