Eiseb farmers cross swords over fence

A disgruntled farmer, Robbie Hoveka, residing in the Eiseb Block, a settlement in Omaheke region, has accused another farmer Barney Karuuombe for using his influence and position to break the law and do as he pleased by cutting down a fenced area meant to prevent livestock from straying to other farms in the area.

Nurses fined N$2 000 for defying booze ban

Three nurses, who were arrested in the wee hours of Sunday for allegedly consuming alcohol on the premises of the Katima Mulilo state hospital in an apparent breach of the Coronavirus regulations, have each paid a fine of N$2 000. The police said the three nurses – a female and two men – were having fun at the hospital nurses’ home when police caught them. The trio is Mufalo Mwilima (28), John Netha (32) and 28-year-old Ruth Mundia.

Opinion – Covid-19 and the deepening cuts of inequality

Efforts to contain the coronavirus have worsened the social and economic divisions that already exist in Namibian society. This is evidenced by the fact that the most vulnerable groups who also happen to be at the bottom of the socio-economic strata are not able to respond to the state of emergency in the same way as the middle and higher-income groups.

MTC ‘shocked’ by CRAN’s licence for City of Windhoek 

The MTC has labelled as ‘anti-competitive’ the issuing of a telecommunications service licence by the Communications Regulatory Authority of Namibia (CRAN). According to MTC’s Tim Ekandjo, this decision by CRAN is both anti-competitive and against the Communications Act and the Competitions Act.
