The community of Otjinene in the Omaheke region is reportedly divided after Ovaherero Paramount Chief Vekuii Rukoro installed a prominent farmer in the area as one of the traditional chiefs.

Local young athletes who were hoping to make their mark at this year’s MTC Namibia Youth Games will have to wait until April next year as the multi-sport youth games have been postponed until 2022, the Namibia Sports Commission (NSC) disclosed yesterday.

The envisaged Namibia Premier Football League (NPFL), a breakaway top-tier league established by the Namibia Football Association (NFA), plans to start and conclude all its activities within a space of three months – meaning the league will start in April and finish on or before 31 July 2021.

An initiative that was started last year by the Namibia Schools Sports Union (NSSU) in collaboration with NamScore Sports Consultancy to equip school teachers with basic and advanced sports training will continue next month.
