Legal representation for some of the men accused of working in cahoots with a former public prosecutor to scam the Office of the Judiciary in witness fees is delaying the start of their trial.

Staying true to the game, LP Family Records has not put brakes on their music careers, having released three albums and three videos last year during a time the entertainment scene took a back seat. 

AngloGold Ashanti Limited has announced that a non-binding proposal has been submitted to the Board of Directors of Corvus Gold Inc. under which its direct wholly owned subsidiary, AngloGold Ashanti Holdings plc (AGAH), would be willing to acquire for cash all of the issued and outstanding common shares of Corvus which the company does not already beneficially own (the proposed transaction).

Namibia is known for many things around the world. There are the beautiful vistas, it’s the country where the desert meets the ocean, abundant wildlife, and of course diamonds. The story goes that diamonds used to be so plentiful you could just walk around certain parts of Namibia and pick them up out of the sand.

There is no doubt that society, in its current structure, is dependent. Thanks to political and territorial independence but when it comes to economic and survival independence, there is still a long way to go. 

I don’t understand the logic behind bashing entertainers for doing what they do best. Namibians are expecting entertainers to wallow in sadness and sing the song of ‘sanitise, wear your mask’ with every update, tweet, post, etc. I mean for goodness sake, we are a year and a half into this pandemic. Which MF does not know that they need to keep their hands clean and mask up? 

De Beers Group, Namdeb, Debmarine Namibia and Namibia Diamond Trading Company (NDTC) recently pledged a combined N$26 million to support the Covid-19 vaccine rollout in Namibia. The pledge will comprise financial support as well as a range of in-kind support to assist with the rollout of the Namibia vaccination campaign.

One of the major challenges at the Swakop Uranium mine in the Erongo region is the availability of parts and prices due to the impact of the Covid-19 pandemic that disturbed the world’s logistics chains. Vice president for mining operations at the Swakop Uranium, Irvinne Simataa, noted the focus is now on ramping up the mine operations.

​​​​​​​The construction of Debmarine Namibia’s new recovery vessel is nearing completion and is set for delivery this month. A significant milestone was achieved when the main engines of the Additional Mining Vessel #3 (AMV3) were recently started successfully for the first time. 

Government’s initial investment into Namib Desert Diamonds (Namdia) was N$ 50 million. Since then, the company has created gross value of N$975 million mainly from sales less purchases, the margin achieved above purchase price, as well as interest received on investments.
