WINDHOEK –Deputy Commissioner Edwin Kanguatjivi announced at the weekly crime briefing yesterday that on Saturday at an unknown time in the Omahenge, Tsandi district, Kambonde Ekandjo (82) hanged himself in his bedroom. He did not leave any suicide note.

His daughter found his lifeless body and notified relatives and the police.  In Lüderitz a man was arrested after Nampost sent a parcel of cocaine and four small parcels (ballies) of marijuana. The cocaine parcel weighed 11.8g with an estimated street value of N$5900, while the marijuana weighed 8.8g with a street value of N$25.20. The man is expected to appear in court today. On Friday in Windhoek, an accident occurred at 14h00 at the corner of Hosea Kutako and Independence Avenue involving four vehicles, including an NBC vehicle, when the driver of a small truck allegedly ignored instructions by a trainee police officer to stop.

A number of people sustained slight injuries and were treated at the Katutura State Hospital. On Saturday at Nubuamis location in Katutura, a man who was about to be robbed fired warning shots, which the suspects allegedly ignored. The man then fired another shot in the road, which ricocheted striking a man in his lower chest. The man died on the spot. The suspect is expected to appear in the Katutura Magistrate’s Court today.
