KATIMA MULILO – The Zambezi Region has been receiving good rains since the beginning of December last year bringing welcome relief among farmers. Farmers can now breathe a sigh of relief after the rains fell in most parts of the Zambezi Region which has been very dry, threatening the livelihoods of many.
The blessings from above however, have also come at a price for some farmers who have lost their cattle due to lightening strikes. Also, more than 40 people in the informal settlement of Choto were left homeless after their houses were submerged following heavy rains. Four of the houses collapsed as a result of the heavy down pours accompanied by strong winds. Most houses in the settlement are built with mud.
