WINDHOEK – The final event of the Namibian Tennis Association Junior tournament for this year was concluded under the auspices of the Johan Theron Tennis School at different tennis courts around the city of Windhoek last weekend.

In the age groups U-10 to U-16, boys and girls battled for ranking points in both the singles and doubles competition. The ranking points will count towards the 2014 season. All final and semi-final matches took place at the Central Tennis Club courts in Olympia and were watched by a large group of parents and tennis fans, who saw most of the age group matches played in round robin format allowing players to play more matches. Intense competition was observed notably in the U-10 and U-12 boys age groups. In these age groups were players of the NTA junior development programme, who after only one year of coaching by the NTA junior tennis development team chief coach Kallie Heese, started to rapidly climb up the national ranking list.

U-12 development programme player Giovanni Kakishi, reached the NTA final for the first time and played an exciting match against U-12 top player Cody van Schalkwyk, while the U-10 age group for boys was won by development player Deacon Dejon, who dispatched Kewin Nel.
