Home Art Life Essence to soul Acoustic Friday at the FNCC

WINDHOEK- It is time for some Motown sounds at the Franco-Namibian Cultural Centre (FNCC) comes Friday, November 29  when the four soulful singers of Essence accompany revellers  on an Acoustic Friday night, backed up by The Heritage Band.

Essence consists of some of the most talented and versatile female singers in Namibia: Esme, Johne’, Avo and Shevon. After their recent performance at the Warehouse Theatre, local print media (The Namibian Sun) hailed the group as delivering a “show-stopping performance”, and having “perfect” vocal harmonies.

Essence is the embodiment of classic Motown sounds and choreography, combined with a touch of African and contemporary musical expressions. The group represents panache, maturity, a sense of fashion, class and talent. Each member brings a different experience, vocal range and ability that blend into the tight vocal presentation and harmonies of the quartet. Essence is to Namibia what The Supremes and The Miracles were to America in the 1970s.

The group was officially established in February 2013 as a result of the 2012 edition of the popular Sistah Thang production. Essence have already performed with great success and positive response from both the media and the public at the Miss Namibia Pageant 2013, the World Music Day 2013 and, as an opening act, at the Last Band Standing finals 2013. The show begins at eight O’clock (20H00) and tickets are N$ 30 in advance, N$ 40 at the door.
