WINDHOEK – Kenya’s senior rugby team coach, Jerome Paarwater has promised to leave no stone unturned when they take on the Sables of Zimbabwe in the 2nd match of the annual Windhoek Draught Tri-Nation Tournament, at the Hage Geingob Stadium tonight at 20h00. Paarwater has called up a strong squad that includes Duncan Ekasi, Lawrence Buyachi, Moses Amusala, while youngsters such Max Adaka and Charles Omondi amongst others are set to represent their contry in the highly competitive 2nd edition of the rugby series. Missing from the squad are twins James and Joseph Kang’ethe, Ronnie Mwenesi and Vincent Mose due to school and work related commitments. It was also revealed that the squad consisted mostly of players that steered Kenya to the African Cup victory after beating Zimbabwe 29-17 in the final, held in Madagascar in July early this year.

Speaking about the squad’s composition, Paarwater said: “We’ve obviously made some changes, the twins are unavailable due to school engagements in Australia, that gives an opportunity to youngsters such as Curtis Lilako, Dennis Karani and Sammy Warui to go out and shine.” Paarwater says the tournament is important to his team as they prepare for the Confederation of African Rugby Cup (CAR) championships, scheduled for June next year in Madagascar. The CAR championships will be the qualifiers for the 2015 Rugby World Cup to be hosted by England. “It’s a big challenge to go and play Namibia because we have never played them, we have played Zimbabwe so I know what to expect. As we learnt in Madagascar playing against the Sables, our forwards did not stand out as we dominated in the scrum, so we think the challenge for us will be to meet them up front, which I don’t have a problem with,” added a confident Paarwater.
