WINDHOEK – The Gymkhana Club Windhoek’s annual Dressage and Show Jumping Club Championships attracted over 50 horses and riders and kicked off last Friday with all the un-graded events for children and beginner riders.
The competition saw young riders having to contend with blistering winds, but somehow the youngsters managed to cope very well under trying circumstances. Riders got into the grove of things on Saturday morning with the warm up events in preparation for the championships and continued going through their paces throughout the day and despite the sizzling heat, both riders and their obedient horses got through the day without any incidents. The Dressage Championships started early Sunday morning with each class obliged to complete 2 different tests. Thereafter it was the turn of the Show Jumpers to take on each other in the novice class over 2 rounds. The winners in their respective categories were as follows:
Children’s Dressage: Club Champion Nadine Flemming on Ginger
Reserve Champion Tara Hein on Gloorwin Max Havelaar
Novice Dressage: Club Champion Stephanie Rexrodt on Quintessa

Reserve Champion Caitlin Calitz on Claratal Chagall
The next event on the horse show calendar is the FEI Group IX Gauntlet, to be hosted by the Riverside Equestrian Centre in Swakopmund from the 6th of the next month.
