WINDHOEK – A 10-year-old Grade 4 learner died on Monday when she was attacked by a crocodile, while drinking water from the Zambezi River in the village of Muzii.
The luckless girl and several other children were on their way home from Muzii Combined School around 14h00 in the aftrenoon when the incident took place. The children decided to go and drink water from the river, but while they were busy quenching their thirst a crocodile attacked and managed to drag the girl into the water.
The other children managed to get away unscathed and alerted some adults in the village, but when they reached the scene of the attack they could not trace her body. By the time of going to press the body of the girl had not been recovered yet. However, the search for her body continues. The Regional Crime Investigations Coordinator in the Zambezi Region, Deputy Commissioner Rudolf Kanyetu confirmed the tragic incident.
