WINDHOEK – Tennis ace Codie van Schalkwyk can make a huge step towards winning the overall ranking of the Kia Tennis Series when he enters the WHS tennis courts this weekend.

Van Schalkwyk sits on top of the log standings with an overwhelming 4 200 points to his name. His closest challenger in the overall ranking, Oliver Diggle, is perched in second spot with 3 225 points. Diggle cannot afford to drop more points, and will hope his rival will endure an unlikely unsuccessful weekend. And while chasing the log leader, Diggle must have one eye on the equally dangerous Moyo Nqobilizwe, who is currently in third position on 3 000 points.

The top ten in the Kia Tennis Ranking are as follows:

1. Codie van Schalkwyk                     4 200

2. Oliver Diggle                                    3 225

3. Moyo Nqobilizwe                             3 000

4. Veri Hinda                                                     2 850

5. Delvin Losper                                  2 675

6. Connor van Schalkwyk      2 500

7. Andre Smit                                                    2 400

8. Waylon Wentzel                  2 250

9. Dario Noabeb                                   2 100

10. Andy Jantzen                                 1 775

Points for the Kia Tennis Ranking are calculated on a 12-month rolling basis in an effort to represent the performance of players from last year September up to this year August. The Kia Tennis Series consists of nine tournaments with the 7th tourney of the season slated for this coming weekend. Players have so far participated in one of five categories according to their skill level and collected points towards the Kia Tennis Ranking.

The tournament, which is hosted by Pro Tennis Academy, is to take place at the WHS tennis courts in Windhoek. Players in the mini and midi categories will compete tomorrow afternoon, with the beginner, intermediate and advanced categories competing on Saturday.
