MTC Premier League Champions Civics FC showed again this weekend why they have been the champions for the past two seasons. The Khomasdal-based side on Saturday outplayed Cymot SKW and then grid out a result against African Stars FC to collect maximum points and move closer to third premier league title. Civics comfortably beat SKW 3-0 at the Independence Stadium and yesterday needed an extra time goal from Rudi Louw to put them in touching distance with the title.

Although many will claim that Civics were fortunate to win the game because Stars dominated the better part of the game and created good chances, Civics showed what champions are made of when Louw scored a goal at injury time from a free kick and once again the class and talent Civics can unleash when needed. The results, coupled with the results at Walvis Bay where Ramblers lost 3-0 to Eleven Arrows, put the Civilians in the driving seat to make the title safe.

Following a disappointing exit from the MTC NFA Cup, Arrows won the game, thanks to a brace from Rudolf Bester and goal from Sheya Andimba. Also at the coast, Blue Water moved away from the relegation zone when they beat United Africa Tigers FC 3-0 at the Kuisebmund Stadium.

In Oshakati, however, Oshakati City kept up their pursuit to finish in the top two when they beat Orlando Pirates 3-0 to stay second on the log, three points behind Civics. Namibia Sport reports that Oshakati City beat Black Africa 1-0 in Oshakati through a goal by Raphael Nuumbembe. They now move up to second position with 33 points from 18 matches.

Orlando Pirates beat Golden Bees 1-0 in Outjo to move up to 7th position on 23 points. In the late match at Walvis Bay, Blue Waters beat Tigers 2-1 after leading 2-0 at halftime.

The match between African Stars and Friends in Rehoboth was called off due to a waterlogged pitch.

Kinaco Minolta Eleven Arrows also collected maximum points after beating Ramblers by 2-1 and United Africa Tigers by 3-0 at the Kuisebmund Stadium.

Africa Personal Services (APS) Blue Waters hammered United Africa Tigers by 2-1. Orlando Pirates was not intimidated by Golden Bees as the black and white outfit trounced Golden Bees by a solitary goal at Outjo’s Etosha Poort Stadium on Saturday.

Black Africa were once again on the receiving end when they went down by 5-3 to Golden Bees on Sunday.

Results:

Civics 3, SKW 0; Oshakati City 1, Black Africa 0;
Golden Bees 0, Orlando Pirates 1;
Eleven Arrows 2, Ramblers 1;
Blue Waters 2, Tigers 1;
Friends v African Stars – postponed
