As has become customary practice, the Wesbank Motocross Championship got off to an exciting start with the popular King of the Dirt race once again taking centre stage.

Hundreds of spectators who came out in large numbers were treated to some spectacular racing and some unimaginable midair tricks that had the faint-hearted searching for oxygen.

It was an exceptional start for this season’s motocross. All classes offered exciting races and the highlight of the day, the “Wesbank King of the Dirt” (combination of Open/125cc Class) offered non-stop action.

Veteran rider Rainer Becker on his Honda grabbed the hole shot in the third heat, hours after claiming the two victories in the heats on his way to a well deserved victory in the prestigious King of the Dirt race, with old timer Ronnie on the back of a rental Kawasaki Adams breathing down his neck in second place.
