He also mentioned that, while others are opening branches where FNB has been for 100 years, “we are embracing the future in a pioneering spirit by giving areas such as Okongo access to banking for the first time”.
Wessel Victor, Sales and Service Manager of the new FNB Okongo branch, confirmed that FNB Namibia touched down at Okongo in the Ohangwena Region, introducing a new concept in banking – “a portable bank is a typical example of what a leading innovation in the context of the FNB Group of companies is, specifically what the banking industry in general can bring about,” he said.
He further confirmed that the portable FNB Okongo branch will open its doors to the public on February 25, 2008.
“The portable FNB Okongo branch is a fully-fledged and functional branch, offering the variety of services anybody has come to expect in any traditional FNB branch. If you do not have a bank account yet, this is your opportunity to open one at FNB Okongo branch,” he said. Victor added that the FNB Okongo branch is equipped with an information area, sales and service area as well as a secure teller area.
“The portable bank comes with a fully integrated online network where accounts can be opened, cards and cheque books are issued as well as real time processing of deposits and withdrawals are made,” the FNB Okongo manager added.
“We at the portable FNB Okongo branch boast a 24-hour ATM, situated on the FNB branch premises with a 24-hour security service to allow our FNB customers and the banking population at large to transact after hours at their own leisure,” he added.
Victor said: “The portable FNB Okongo branch is the first of its kind in Namibia, making FNB Namibia the first commercial bank in Namibia to offer banking services at the highest standards, to the people in, and those living around, Okongo town.”
The FNB Okongo branch is situated on plot 98, in the Main Street of Okongo town.
