WINDHOEK

Minister of Education Nangolo Mbumba is to officially open the third annual three-day Information Society Technologies (IST) Conference and Exhibition in Windhoek next Wednesday.

According to a press statement from the ministry of Education, some 400 delegates from leading commercial, government and research organisations around the world will attend the conference, aimed at bridging the digital divide by sharing knowledge, experience, lessons learned and good practices, and to identify opportunities for international research collaboration between Europe and Africa under ICT theme of Framework Programme 7.

The Deputy Prime Minister, Dr Libertina Amathila, will officially close the conference.

Other keynote speakers will include Joel Kaapanda, Minister of Information and Communication Technology; Mosibudi Mangena, Minister of Science and Technology, South Africa; Dr Ham-Mukasa Mulira, Minister of Information and Communications Technology, Uganda; Dr Noah Wekesa, Minister for Science and Technology, Kenya; Peter Zangl, Deputy Director-General, Information Society and Media, European Commission, Belgium and Jos??????’??
