Latest DNA test results have revealed that all the body parts found on Lombard Street in Grootfontein recently belonged to Jacoba Wilma Olivier.
Namibian Police spokesperson, Chief Inspector Angula Amulungu, yesterday confirmed that tests carried out by the Director of Forensic Science Institute, Dr Paul Ludik, have revealed that all the separate body parts belonged to one person.
According to Amulungu, the pattern in which Olivier body parts were cut is similar to way both the late Juanita Mabula and Sanna Helena //Garoes bodies were dismembered.
“In a way this could be a clear indication that these victims were murdered by the same culprit/s, and we are now looking into that matter,” he said.
According to the police investigation, the deceased’s throat was slit with a sharp object, which possibly caused her death. The body was also not mutilated as alleged by earlier media reports.
“Because of the advanced state of decomposion in which it was, it is regrettable that may have led some people to conclude that some parts were removed,” said the police spokesperson.
He confirmed that the deceased’s eyes and tongue were not removed, ad-
ding that Olivier’s body is complete.
The Chief Inspector is requesting anyone who knew the late Olivier and saw her last, to come forth and provide information.
“This will greatly assist the investigators in the case to make headway in their investigation,” he said.
He said the case could only be resolved once the public cooperate with the police.
“The earlier the better, members of the public are our eyes and ears, we depend on them, all our success depends on the public, we solely rely on information provided by members of the public,” said Amulungu.
Meanwhile, the police have increased the reward for information leading to the arrest of the suspect(s) by N$50???_?_’???_?’???_???
