Human remains of an unidentified adult female were last Thursday discovered at Gellapost, a Government research centre in the Karas Region, 16 kilometres west of Keetmanshoop.

According to police spokesperson, Warrant Officer Kauna Shikwambi, the remains are suspected to have been lying there for over two years.

Members of the public stumbled upon the remains on Thursday and notified the police on Friday. Female clothes and shoes were also found at the scene.

“The remains will be taken for forensic tests, which will determine the age of the deceased. At the moment it’s too early to comment. We will wait for the outcome of the tests,” she said.

Meanwhile two rape cases were reported in the Caprivi Region.

A man aged 63 allegedly raped a 10-year-old girl at Simataa Village and at Katima, a 30-year-old man allegedly assaulted a 25-year-old woman before raping her.

Both suspects were arrested and police investigations continue.

In another incident at Okahandja Park, a man was arrested after he allegedly shot a 25-year-old male. The victim died on the spot and police investigations continue.

In the Omusati Region at Okahao, a 19-year-old boy was allegedly struck on the head with a brake drum over the weekend. He sustained serious injuries and was admitted to the Oshakati State Hospital. His condition is said to be stable. The suspect is on the run and police investigations continue.
