WINDHOEK
Some parts of the capital may experience an interruption of water supply tomorrow, due to maintenance of the city’s underground water pipeline system.
Announcing this in a media release yesterday, Public Relations Officer of the City of Windhoek Liz Sibindi said the City of Windhoek’s technicians would be doing maintenance work on the outgoing pipeline of the low level reservoir from 09h00 until 16h00 in the afternoon.
As a result, a number of areas in the city will be affected, namely, Windhoek West, Windhoek North, Dorado Park, parts of Eros, parts of Klein Windhoek, the northern part of Independence Avenue and the Windhoek State/Central Hospital.
In view of this situation, the City of Windhoek is urging all residents, consumers and businesses to take notice of the situation.
“This is part of our regular maintenance of the underground water system. It is important for us to maintain the infrastructure for its durability and to avoid pipe bursts,” said Sibindi.
She added that although there will be a water interruption, water will be trickling out of the taps at very reduced pressure.
Maintenance of the infrastructure will last for about nine hours but the technicians are optimistic that they can complete the task in four to five hours.
Meanwhile, provision has been made for the Windhoek Central Hospital and there are a number of reservoirs on standby for any water interruption. The reservoirs are located on the roof of the building.
