The National Art Gallery in partnership with the Germany Embassy are proud to host an exhibition by two upcoming Namibian artists, Silke Berens and Phillipus Sheehama.

“Human Rights” is an exhibition of prints, paintings and drawings supporting the Human Rights day and theme, which the Namibian nation commemorates on December 10 annually in honour of the fallen heroes and heroines of the country. This exhibition is not only a response to conscience to human rights, but an awareness-raising event too.

It promotes respect for these rights as stipulated in Articles 3 and 5 in the Universal Declaration of Human Rights, which state that “Everyone has the right to life, liberty, and security of person” and “No one shall be subjected to torture or to cruel, inhuman or degrading treatment or punishment”. These two articles are the main focus of the exhibition, which deals with life, security and inhuman behaviour toward others.
