The Kennedy Centre offers two fellowship programmes for highly motivated arts managers; it was announced in a press statement from Washington.

“Fellows in both programmes enjoy close working relationships with experienced arts professionals, hands-on work opportunities, a structured blend of independent and collective learning experiences, and the opportunity to work in one of the busiest and most artistically diverse performing arts centers in the United States,” said Kim Peter Kovac, the producing director for young audiences at the John F Kennedy Centre for performing arts.

He said fellows are expected to attend performances and educational events, as well as complete significant projects within the context of the Kennedy Centre.

“The International Summer Fellowship Programme provides practical experience and instruction to up to 20 managers currently working in international not-for-profit performing arts organisations.

This full-time, four-week intensive programme takes place in July and includes classes, seminars and practical work experience in the Kennedy Centre’s fundraising and marketing departments,” he said. Individuals selected for this programme will return to the Kennedy Centre for ongoing professional development for a total of three consecutive summer sessions.

Lodging, per diem, travel, and materials are provided at no cost to participants.
The deadline for application to the programme that has been running for the past five years, is February 1.

“The Fellowship Programme provides up to 10 highly motivated, disciplined, and creative artists and arts managers from the United States and other countries with the instruction and experience they need to succeed in today’s complex arts environment.

Fellows work full-time at the Center for nine months starting in September and ending in May and take part in classes, seminars, and practical work experiences in at least three Kennedy Centre departments. Stipend, materials, and reimbursement for health coverage are provided to participants,” he concluded.
The application deadline is April 1.
