The World Health Organisation has a new local boss. Dr Magda Robalo is the Country Representative of the UN health body in Namibia.

Dr Robalo presented her letter of credentials to the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Marco Hausiku last week.

The Minister welcomed the Representative to Namibia saying that the WHO and the Government have a very close working relationship that has been vital in the fight against diseases in the country.

Dr Robalo, on her part, said that the WHO does not have a lot of money to give out but it was ready to provide technical support to Government and other agencies.

She said the WHO would concentrate on the fight against HIV/Aids and malaria.
Dr Robalo, a citizen of Guinea, has previously worked in South Africa and Botswana as Deputy Representative.

This is her first assignment as a Country Representative.
