Windhoek – Land Rover Owners Namibia (LRON) is organising the next Land Rover Festival which is scheduled to take place on August 24 to 27 2018 in Uis. The festival is expected to include action and fun-filled competitions, both in and out of the vehicle, and the aim to gather as many Land Rover vehicles as possible as organisers try their luck at the Guinness World Record Off-Road Convoy. The festival organisers hope to continue the passion for Land Rover vehicles and have therefore called for the oldest to the youngest Land Rover models to join the awesome weekend.
In order to encourage as many owners and vehicles as possible to participate owners of more than one Land Rover vehicle may get another family member, relatives or friends to bring the second or third Land Rovers to Uis for the count with the entrance fee remaining the same; just one entrance ticket is required per entrant for the owner or family.
The weekend program is ‘jam packed’ and includes Gold Rush and Land Rover Pirates on and in the enormous 12x25m pool at Brandberg Rest camp, a Land Rover Drag race, Expertise Obstacle Drive. Participants will also get an opportunity to explore Uis by following the riddles for the Treasure Hunt in and around town while other activities will include showing off individual cooking skills with a Cook-Off competition and brag with your Landy for example in the Coolest Defender, Most Loved Series or Youngest Discovery & Range Rover competition.
Participants will also be able to test their Land Rover knowledge with Trivia Night and see how fast they can change a tyre or set up a tent. These are only a few of the very exciting competitions over the weekend. There will be lots of fun for the whole family, including an obstacle challenge where lady drivers get extra points and can win great prizes.
Plenty of cold drinks will quench the visitor’s thirst at the festival and the food available will astound with some of the most amazing catering ever to be seen in the bush. A caterer from the Kamanjab area will provide a variety of good food such as home-made pies, lamb spit, afal potjie, sosaties, biltong, droë wors, pork chops, BBQ chicken and their renowned cheeses will be sold as cheese platters to take on the Sundowner drives.
Braai packs will be available for own barbeque, and there will even be desserts like Chocolate fudge and Peppermint crisp tart, and finally farm fresh cream and butter to take home.
Land Rover Memorabilia & 4×4 Accessories cannot be missing from such an event as a selection of Land Rover items will be for sale such as caps, T-Shirts, Land Rover crafts, camping gear and 4×4 accessories for your Landy.
By purchasing a raffle ticket or two, visitors stand a chance to win a Land Rover Series II, 109 Station Wagon. This raffle is in aid of the local community and two organisations that operate in the Damaraland area and beyond, assisting communities and the wildlife, the Desert Dwelling Elephants and the Desert Lions. These two organisations are DelRHA, the (Desert Lion Human Relations Aid) and EHRA (Elephants Human Relations Aid). The raffle ticket draw will also take place at the Land Rover Festival!

Breath-taking sunsets can be seen from the top of the famous big white mine heap where sun downers can be enjoyed in the evening, when the cool coastal air moves inland. Uis has a supermarket, petrol station and plenty of accommodation and camping facilities. The people of Uis are kind hearted, hardworking and helping in every aspect of organising this big event.
