Award-winning local artist Lazarus Shiimi aka Gazza, and top Kwaito act David Shikalepo, Exit, are the main performers at this year’s Miss Outapi beauty pageant at the Outapi Mini Lodge in the Omusati region today.
Among other artists performing are Tequila, Jay-K Nakaye, Dj Shoza, Mashab and The Elements. The theme is Economic Revival through Talent and Innovation.
Miss Outapi has since 2011 become one of the fastest growing social gatherings in Namibia. While the pageant celebrates cultures within the Omusati Region, it has also served as a springboard to promote socio-economic inclusion and development in the area.
A sizzling barbeque ahead of the main event at the lodge with contestants taken on a tour of the fast-growing town of Outapi, and a special tour of the Olufuko Cultural Festival, form part of the pageant’s busy schedule. Organisers say huge prizes are at stake, apart from the entertainment extravaganza.
The top three winners will walk away with N$10 000.00 cash prizes which will be divided among the winners, phones, and learner’s driving license training, DSTv decoders, and hospitality tokens at variety of hotels, beauty products, and make-up course.
Queen Avula, one of the organisers, says winners will attend inspirational sessions and an opportunity to work on some humanitarian and community uplifting projects with the renowned and leading HIV/AIDS activist in Namibia, Immanuel Sheefeni.
Tickets for the pageant ranges from N$ 50 to N$ 250, and doors opens from seven O’clock in the evening (19h00) today
