NKURENKURU – Kanuni Haruwodi Combined School in Nkurenkuru recently received a donation from the Turkish Cooperation and Coordination Agency (TIKA), which include 30 fruit trees and a playground.
Delegates from Turkey visited the school last week under the leadership of the TIKA Director Abdulkadir Abukhan.
The 17 TIKA delegates from Turkey say the donation is aimed at strengthening performance and creating a welcoming environment for both learners and teachers at the school.
“The donation includes a playground at the premises, which includes, two play house divided into three sets, two sea-saw, two swings and two slide and 30 fruit trees that were planted as team effort by the delegates, parents, teachers and some learners,” said Abukhan.
The playground is currently being installed at the school.
Abukhan said he was happy to have found the needy school and hope to further strengthen the relationship with it with the aim of helping out where possible.
“We are very much looking forward in working together with the community to help upgrade the school in the near future,” he said.
Just recently, the school was also visited by the Director of the Windhoek International School Peter Mackenzie and his wife, with the purpose of improving overall teacher moral, academic performance and creating a collaboration by linking it as a sister school to the Windhoek International School.
The couple successfully trained four teachers from Kanuni during the August 2018 school holiday.
